Skip the User Interface: AI That Fits Your Workflow

Being confronted with a new computer interface for every new service with different rules for usage, different signs and symbols, and the usual ones all in different places is one of life’s many frustrations. Even with an interface that is design led, sleek and beautiful it is still another thing to navigate and relearn. This is not a system that bodes well for quick integration into an existing work flow.

But what if an AI based service that was intended to elevate the work flow was seamlessly integrated into the systems that we all already know? What if all you had to do was send an email to get help on a task that would otherwise take a long time, or that would require a new interface that makes computing at work feel like a constant challenge?

The most exciting thing about LLMs is that being able to understand language means that they can be used by anyone. An AI agent using an LLMs is not reliant on code, it does not need a new interface to become the front end to something more complicated, it does not need to be downloaded by IT teams onto all the devices of the work force.

We have a working example. One of our clients needs an AI translator for their press releases. Sometimes they need to translate the whole thing, sometimes they might need to translate just a sentence or two. We have an interface for this within our Mojito AI text editor. They can select parts of the text and then select the translator agent and the language they needed. Or they can do this in our Spritz interface and copy and paste into the agent, generating the translation then and there. But all of this requires an extra step in the workflow that is not already a natural move, not something we have all been doing for decades. A new and extra step requires time and practice to be fully integrated. An email, on the other hand, is literally a no brainer.

All you need to do is copy and paste the text you need translated, say which language you want it to be translated it in and Bob’s your uncle. Faster than you can make a cup of tea you’ve got the result in your inbox. A translated piece of text. No extra thought required. Though, given you’ve saved a lot of time you probably can go and make that cup of tea and enjoy it too

This is just small step towards leveraging an LLM’s ability to understand language to make services easier to integrate into the existing workflow. It reduces an awful lot of time that a workforce currently spends learning new interfaces. It reduces unnecessary confusion, and stops asking an employee to take time away from the tasks that actually need doing to navigate a new system every 5 minutes. It is really, really simple. And we love simple. Simple, for us, is rather special.
